I arrived to the hotel after two incredible days in Halong Bay. It is impossible to describe the feelings of the arrival: noise, no attention, no información, local tourism with no education, ... The room was the reflect of the lobby impression: old, scratches, no details, ... It seems you are in a two star beach hotel in the middle of nowhere. Definitely, not for foreign travellers.

« First time in a lifetime to run away from the hotel »

After 30 years staying in Accor Hotels, it is the first time to go out of the hotel after the check-in. You can't imagine what there is inside: children without beauvoir, screaming, jumping, throwing shoes against other guests, playing with the sculptures of the hotel, ... But this is only the beginning. The room is the reflect of the first impression. The furnutires are destroyed and the floor is full of scratches. Finally, staff did not pay attention to anything till I told them I was going to leave the hotel. Difficult situation in Halong with the type of tourism that the hotel receives.

The hotel itself.. very nice. The food was good, however the western food was limited and 'average'. The staff are world class.. indeed the best hotel staff I have ever come across, and I am very well travelled. Special thanks to Tung, (the bar manager), Thiao (Receptionist), and Tong, (the bell boy / driver). They went above and beyond reasonable expectations. The only real criticism I have, and one I believe that you are already aware of, and am not sure whether indeed this is your responsibility.. young children running amok screaming everywhere, which as you can imagine is not relaxing for other hotel guests. Indeed, in the room next to us kids were running around screaming at midnight.. it was so bad that we had to contact reception / security to deal with it.

All staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was outdated and needed some updates (bed and bathroom). The restaurant was consistently underwhelming. The food was average at best for lunch and dinner, despite the price. Portions of my order were forgotten. The breakfast was unable to keep up with the crowd, and even with a smaller crowd still had trouble refilling drinks/bread/etc. without being prompted first.

« Nice hotel for work or vacation »

The hotel was great and there were a couple exceptional staff that helped us during our stay. It was a bit noisy due to many people on holiday at the same time, but no fault of the hotel. Because it was so busy when we stayed, the buffet dinner was not worth the 1 mil dong spent as much of the food was taken already and they couldn't replenish it fast enough. I would suggest going elsewhere to eat when the hotel is that busy.

« Hard bed, AC not working well, electricity cut and untrained staff »

I have stayed in Novotel Ha Long in the past however this time the experience was not satisfying at all. The room that was given to me had extremely hard beds, I do not remember from my past stay that the bed would have been so hard. The AC could be set only on lowest or highest blow, so I had to choose between feeling hot or cold, also the AC was very noisy. On arrival date I ordered room service, but the staff was very unprofessional and spilled my afternoon tea set bites, she did not care to clean up after making a mistake. She brought me salt and pepper but none to be used as they were only filled with rice... On the next morning I woke up sweating a lot as there was a electricity cut for several hours. Overall this was not a experience Novotel should deliver to its guests.

Good hotel with beautiful and clean rooms. Bathroom is very nice and comfortable,as well as a special recreation sofa area in my upgraded room,thanks to my ACCOR membership. Pool area and breakfast room are beautifully located, but overcrowded and very noisy especially during weekends. Staff is doing their best to manage the battle at the breakfast buffet. Therefore the price for breakfast,14 USD is much too high. It's not worth more than 8 USD. Many thanks to the always friendly and helpful staff.

« Clean hotel, great staff, but lots of noisy kids »

This is a great Novotel hotel. Rooms are big, very clean, and on level 12 have spectacular views across the Halong Bay, and over parks where the light and water show each night is well worth watching. Staff at reception, room cleaners, restaurants and bars, and tour desk are so helpful and professional. Head barman at cocktail bar is a great ambassador for the brand and makes fantastic cocktails..Management manage by walking around, greeting guests. Reasonbale English skills. 7 minute walk across the lights park to the beach, and 15 minutes into city and cablecar. Tour desk organised 6 hour cruise and dinner aboard Halong President cruiser. Excellent meal and sightseeing. Excellent recognition of Accor Platinum status with room upgrade, drinks, free breakfast, and 50% off meals. Only downside for us was that it was first week of school holidays, and there were lots of school groups and families with excited kids who do what kids do well = make lots of happy noise. So best to have breakfast and dinner later. We really enjoyed our stay at Novotel Halong.

A beautiful hotel,a bit outside of the city centre. Beautiful,clean rooms,a nice swimming pool and bar. Nice and beautiful located restaurant,but very crowded and noisy during breakfast time with struggle at the buffet...therefore bf price isn't convenient. Always a very friendly and helpful staff
