« Another pleasant stay »

I do enjoy staying in Novotel Zürich Airport - it has a perfect location when one just passes by or goes to a concert in Hallenstadion (I was there for CHER concert, just an overnight stay again). And as I am writing a review, I would like to take a moment and specially thank Marcele for the ease and the pleasantness of the check-in process. When I arrived, Marcele greeted me At the reception with with a non-generic honest welcoming smile, and asked how my flight was ( a very nice touch). He was very helpful advising me on how to get to Hallenstadion (I had plenty of time and there was no need for a taxi). He provided me with the tram tickets and explained how to use them. And when I was leaving for the concert after a couple of hours of relaxing rest (Novotel has very comfortable beds, by the way, thank you) he gently reminded me: “... Tram No.10, three stops, then tram No.11...”. Thank you very much, Marcele, I did not get lost Only thanks to your detailed directions. As I have already mentioned the comfi bed, I can only add that the room was perfectly clean, and having a Nespresso coffee-maker makes such a difference in the morning! Here I must also mention that there was a strange issue with the early-morning airport shuttle I booked at check-in: it had never arrived (or just had not stopped at the hotel) - the morning staff at the reception were also puzzled. However, they kept the standard of a four-star hotel and transferred me to the airport with a taxi, thank you.

The bed was awful, shower was cold, filthy walls and floors all over hotel once you got past reception. I have stayed in lots of Novotel hotels and this one is just not in the same ballpark.

« Check-in good, Room all good but poor breakfast service. »

Pleasant reception service, clean pleasant room with free wifi but breakfast was not such a good experience. Several food items had run out, there were no spoons or breakfast bowls available with too few staff struggling to keep tables cleared and laid up.

Overall are okay with your hotel, only few things are my comments as follow: -Surprise the room is smaller than Ibis hotel -I could not check in earlier, but can check out late upto 15.00.Thx. -Some body at front desk was not priority customer instead of their internal discussion -How could we need pay the transport from hotel to airport CHF 4.00 , but Ibis is only CHF1.00 using the same bus?

Your staff should learn to smile and not find every opportunity to make money. I don't expect freebies but things like a cup of milk for my infant is usually given complimentary. One of your staff, a chinese lady, started arguing with me until another gentleman intervened and assisted. Your room service is not at all useful as everything I wanted, was told to get it from the restaurant downstairs!!! Wow... that is a service you expect from a brand! The reception staff is not friendly and have a very unpleasant look on their face. Never expected the service to be this low from Novotel. The rooms were extra dirty, carpets stained, no proper toiletries, cups, etc.

« Quality deteriorated since my stay a year ago. »

Main issue I had was with cleanliness. Dirty wall (spill from a coffee or juice probably), carpet, curtains, dirty and sticky chairs in the breakfast room, not very inviting. Limited amenity kits in the bathroom. Breakfast offer fairly limited. Otherwise standard Novotel airport hotel experince.

« Nice hotel. »

The hotel was very clean and nice and staff were very friendly. We arrived way earlier than check in time and the hotel was crowded. Yet, the staff made it a priority to find us a room since we had a baby with us. The metro station was right next to the hotel which made getting around the city very easy. The room was smallish but still nice and clean. The only thing I would improve is the breakfast. The selection of items was very limited.

I felt the hotel was a little tired and old fashioned; there were a few problems and I would not stay again. Advice about airport shuttle on the website would be useful. Why do airport hotels like this not make the time to the airport, whether there is a shuttle, how much it costs and how often it run, a prime piece of information? look to IHG for guidance on how to do it well. A half hourly service not advised the night before is not good enough, particularly as it is not a free shuttle. Long time to check out with long queues. A do not disturb sign with writing that does not need a microscope to read it in the dim lighting would be good. Half the lights in the bathroom did not work. Rough old thin towels in the bathroom. Somebody banging on all the doors down the corridor at 8:30am and waking up the guests to see who had checked out. It is not her fault - it is hotel policy at fault. Why not check with reception who has checked out? Quite a disgraceful performance at over CHF 180 for a 10 hour stay. It seems there is nothing in this review to udnerstand the profile of the guest for this hotel. For me it was a 10 hour stopover connecting two flights. I spent 129 nights in hotels last year and take around 100 flights per year including long haul.

« Everything was a disaster from the moment we arrived. »

We had a late check in, which your hotel was aware of. When we got to our room, my daughter had no sheets for her bed. We waited a half hour for room service to bring sheets and extra towels. Next our hot water for the shower did not work. We were told to let it run for 15 minutes after our 3rd call for service. That is completely unacceptable. Next our television didn't work - at all! It wouldn't even turn on. We were needing to go to sleep due to us having to leave for the airport at 3:30am. They decided to move us to another room. VERY inconvenient. The assistant manager assured us that the manager would be in touch the next day for some sort of compensation. We never heard from him or her. We are not complainers but this was completely mishandled and way out of the norm of acceptability. We travel all over the world and feel compensation of some sort is due us.
